RYAN MALMSTROM
I am an experienced professional keyboard player and songwriter. I have a history of achievement in the Minneapolis music scene, and I'm now living in Austin, Texas.
Playing the piano at the age of four was the beginning of a musical career that has lasted many years and still continues to thrive.
From initially being classically trained, I found myself diverted into genres as diverse as classic and progressive rock, heavy metal, black metal, and industrial music. Playing in bands from early in high school on, I was influenced by musicians and composers such as Jon Oliva, Kevin Moore, Jorden Rudess, Glen Hansard, Michael Sweet, Jonathan Cain, Peter Tägtgren, Dan Swanö, Josh Silver and Cevin Key. Band influences include Kings X, Type O Negative, Dream Theater, Gotthard, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Savatage, Journey, Stryper, Alice Cooper, The Outfield, Bon Jovi and many others.
My passion for my art has continued to develop and my skills have flourished. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work with a range of talented musical professionals, from whom I’ve gained knowledge and shared valuable experiences with, whether we were on the road, in a club, at a festival or in the recording studio. I continue to take every opportunity to develop my keyboard and piano skills as both a working musician and composer, and am currently available for session work.
